This year DOK#1 will be focusing its DesignSpot on the exhibitors NUU & Friends. The seven designers from London will be exhibiting furniture, lamps, porcelain and other attractive and stylish items for the home. The characteristic trends in their designs are nature, sustainability and applicability – often spiced with a dash of humour. DesignSpot is NUU & Friends’ first exhibition in Denmark. Meet them at DOK#1 and get an insight into whatever’s inspiring young designers right now.

Alex Farnea & Yashar Sadeghi are the designers behind NUU. They describe their profession as follows: "We believe that there is more to design than making things, that people are to a large extent the product of the products they use. Therefore, our guiding principle is to create objects that bring joy to the user."

Clark Clerkin and Ed Ward create products for All Lovely Stuff and explain: “We like good practical design for everyday use. We care about the details, and aim to put a smile on your face. We design products to be charming and to inspire affection, helping to increase longevity.”

Jon Lane-Smith is the man behind the Domesticity brand, which he will be exhibiting at DOK#1. He characterises his own brand as follows: “Domesticity was founded to create smart, contemporary homewares, which are as pleasing to look at as they are to use.”

Rosemary Anrude works with wood, metal and recycled materials, and says of her focus: “My work connects with industrial processes, many now considered obsolete, from bending metal to the ancient process of bronze casting, and most recently lathe turning. A strong thread running through my work is a preoccupation with sustainability, including recycling, and I have experimented with various methods for giving objects a second life.”
